Student Airline Ticket Discounts


How to obtain a letter of Eligibility for students discounts of Airline Tickets:
According to the Act of the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, students who are approved of by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology and the Ministry of Health and Medical Education are eligible for student benefits such as the Student discount on Airline tickets( once annual ).
Observe the following to see if you meet the criteria for discount eligibility, in which case you would need to refer to the Consular section of the Embassy and make a request an Eligibility letter to hand in at the Iran Air desk at the Schiphol Airport, in order to obtain your ticket discount. If you don’t seem to be already eligible you may simply need to provide the below-stated documents and papers that you already have not

Student Categories and Required Document

  • Those who have already created a Student Dossier in the Ministry of Science or Health , or are scholarships students, may already obtain an Eligibility letter by providing the following:
    • Filling out an application form for the student discount
    • A Photocopy of their Iranian Passport
    • Certificate of registration at the university where the student is studying, including the year of his/her enrollment at the university and their exact study program.(This document should also consist of a transcript grades for every year of study as well as the certificate of the last obtained diploma/degree at the establishment)
  • Those who have not yet created a Student Dossier, and have not as of yet been entitled to student benefits and facilities provided by the Ministry of Science or Health. This category of applicants must first create a Student Dossier, the steps of which are as follows:

    i) Non-Medicine Students
    • A filled out copy of application form No. 401.
    • Certificate of registration at the university where the student is studying, including the year of his/her enrollment at the university and their exact study program.(This document should also consist of a transcript grades for every year of study as well as the certificate of the last obtained diploma/degree at the establishment)
    • 2 photocopies of all the filled out pages of the applicant’s passport, including the date of last departure from Iran.
    • Abiding by the regulations of Public Service (i.e. holding a Conscription Termination card, document of exemption of or deferral due to full-time studies)
    • (In case of being married ) A photocopy of the spouse’s passport as well as children (if any), and the respective residency documents.
    • A certificate approving a legitimate departure from Iran, (in case the date of first departure from Iran has not been indicated in the applicant’s passport)
    • Photocopy of the applicant’s Dutch Student residence permit* card and his/her University Student ID card.
    • 2 photocopies of the applicant’s entire Iranian Birth Certificate (Shenasname).
    • (In case of being married), also 2 photocopies of the applicant’s spouse and possible children’s Iranian Birth Certificates (Shenasname) is also necessary.
    • Two 3x4cm passport photos taken within the past six month, (Including a full face, front view, white background, open eyes, without a hat, glasses or neck scarves, with the exception of headscarves(hijab for women)). [The individual’s personal details must be inscribed on the back of every piece of photo]
    • (In case the student is a Scholar) A photocopy of their recommendation letters and approval letters.

    ii) Medicine Students
    • A filled out copy of application form No. 401.
    • Certificate of registration at the university where the student is studying, including the year of his/her enrollment at the university and their exact study program.(This document should also consist of a transcript grades for every year of study as well as the certificate of the last obtained diploma/degree at the establishment)
    • 2 photocopies of all the filled out pages of the applicant’s passport, including the date of last departure from Iran.
    • Abiding by the regulations of Public Service (i.e. holding a Conscription Termination card, document of exemption of or deferral due to full-time studies)
    • (In case of being married ) A photocopy of the spouse’s passport as well as children (if any), and the respective residency documents.

    • Photocopy of the applicant’s Dutch Student residence permit* card and his/her University Student ID card.

    • (In case of being married), also 2 photocopies of the applicant’s spouse and possible children’s Iranian Birth Certificates (Shenasname) is also necessary.

    • (In case the student is a Scholar) A photocopy of their recommendation letters and approval letters.
    • PhD Students and those at the level of specializing, who don’t possess a student (academic) residence permit, are obliged provide the necessary pledges of returning to the country. To accomplish this, the student should have their parent or legal representative, contact the student affairs department of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education

Explanations:  For those applicants who physically turn up at the embassy for submitting their documents, it is necessary to also provide the consulate with a postal envelope. Also it is worth noting that the letters of eligibility for discount on airline tickets are only valid for a maximum of three months after their date of issuance. Furthermore, In case the letter is lost, it is not possible to reissue the same letter for the same applicant, and the second issuance will be counted as a second application.

**After the documents have been sent off to Iran, for obtaining the relevant permits from the student affairs office of the MFA, future requests of the applicant ( i.e. for ticket discounts, exiting permit stamps, issuance of replacement passports free of charge,…) will be feasible.
