Regulations on Entry &Residency of Foreign

Nationals in the Free Trade and Industrial Zones

According to the laws and regulations regarding the Entrance and Residence of foreign nationals in the free trade and industrial zones of the Islamic Republic of Iran, foreign nationals are not required to obtain visas in order to directly enter these zones via the arrival ports of the region.
The aforementioned individuals, will have the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, arrange for their necessary residence permits, and have their travel documents officially and accordingly stamped on the spot, at the entrance port of the region.
These issued permits are valid normally for two weeks, and are extendable up to six months, according to request.
For foreign nationals, in order to enter the areas adjacent to other parts of the country to which direct entry is not possible, should obtain a visa via the Embassies/Consulates/Interest Sections of the Islamic Republic of Iran from abroad.
If after entering the country, foreign nationals intend to go across areas of the country’s mainland, they must, according the stipulations, submit their request for doing so, to the office of Foreign Nationals’ Affairs of the Special zone.

Issuing a residence permit for the following categories of applicants is illegal:

  • Nationals of countries whose entering into Iranian territory is deemed forbidden by the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
  • Individuals whose entry to the territory of the IRI is prohibited by law.
  •  Individuals whose entry to the Free trade and Industrial Zones of the IRI is prohibited by law.
