Introduction

The relationship between Iran and the Netherlands has a long history and goes back to around four centuries ago. Despite some ups and downs in political relations over time a common understanding has been formed between the two nations, which is a great asset for the development of public communications and enhancement of ties between two nations.

In the public diplomacy section, it is strived to reinforce profound public relations by a clear mutual understanding of the two nations and taking advantage of their commonalities. This important issue will be followed and developed through exchange of cultural and artistic delegations, scholar and student exchange programs, producing relations between scientific and academic centers of either countries, set up of artistic and cultural exhibitions, holding film festivals, expanding Iranology studies, expansion of the number of Persian language courses in Dutch universities, facilitating contacts between the artists of two countries, sports champions in either countries, participation in seminars and conferences, more outreach to the Media and exchange of journalists.

The presence of more than 30,000 Iranian living in the Netherlands is truly a strong source of pride as of their high level of education. Iranians are not only prized for their knowledge, but also by their assistance in creation of great relation with the Dutch community to present Iran in a correct way among the Dutch and other nationalities.

The Embassy’s public diplomacy section intends to take steps forwards to the mutual interests of both nations taking advantage of mentioned capabilities and capacities. Needless to point out, apart from the population of Iranians living in the Netherlands, a high number of educated and outstanding members from the Dutch society, familiar with rich culture and history of Iran, put a lot of efforts to extend the relationship between the two nations.

This section welcomes any ideas, plans or suggestions which could build a bridge for stronger relations between the two nations and hoping for better relations in the future, admires all efforts by the patrons of Iran- Holland relations to realize the momentous goal.
